Alexandria, Egypt rare stamps
for philatelists and other buyers

France operated a post office in Alexandria in Egypt from 1830 to 1931. For part of this time, France used regular French stamps for its postal business, but soon began to use stamps printed especially for the post office.

The overprinted French stamps, using the French ‘ALEXANDRIE’, are rather harder to find for sale these days, and many collectors don’t yet have their needs fulfilled in this area. The French Alexandria stamps that were especially inscribed just for this post office are decidedly more common, but still can elude certain collectors.
