Port Said, Egypt rare stamps
for philatelists and other buyers

France maintained a post office in Port Said on the northern coast of Egypt from 1867 to 1931. French stamps were used from 1867 to 1899; cancellations of these stamps are great pieces to add to an Egyptian or French stamp collection.

Stamps were overprinted with ‘PORT-SAÏD’, and these can generally be found for sale from dealers for prices that suit most collectors’ budgets. These are often, but not always, sold in singles.

Later, in 1900, actual Port-Saïd stamps were first issued by France, and this practice lasted for many years. These stamps are often sold in larger, multi-piece lots, making them ideal not only for your collection but to use the extras as trade bait for other stamps you want.
