Angra stamps
for philatelists and other buyers

The archipelago of Angra, part of Portugal‘s Azores, began its postage stamp history in 1892. That year, original stamps inscribed ‘CORREIOS PORTUGAL’ and ‘ANGRA’ were issued. These first stamps were available in a rather wide variety of denominations, from 5 reis to 300 reis. Beginning later that decade, in 1897, Portuguese stamps with ‘ANGRA’ and value overprints were used.

In 1906, Angra began using the stamps of the Azores, and in 1935, the stamps of Portugal. Collectible stamps from Angra are the ones issued between 1892 and 1905; collectible covers include mail between Angra and the Azores, Portugal, and other places from any era.
