After the Japanese occupation of Burma ended towards the end of World War II, Britain once again took over control of postal services in Burma. This was handled by the British Military Administration, which used the stamps Britain had issued for Burma in 1938 with new overprints reading ‘MILY ADMN’.
MILY ADMN stamps are very popular with collectors these days, as are the many covers that still get traded from this time. There is usually quite a good selection to choose from when buying. They represent a short but crucial time in the history of Burma — immediately after the turmoil of the war, and just three years before Burma would declare independence and issue its own stamps.
