FIND US CORONET/MATRON HEAD CENT COINS FOR SALE

The United States large one-cent coin issued from 1816 to 1839 was the so-called coronet cent, also known as the matron head cent. The obverse of the matron head cent showed a profile of Liberty, wearing a coronet (a kind of simple crown) reading LIBERTY as on the previous “classic head” cent, but without the curly hair of that design. The copper matron head one-cent coin was at the time the longest-lasting design used on a penny coin; others had lasted no longer than about eleven years and some less than one.

Collectors who are buying coronet cents from 1816 to 1839 should check the current for-sale listings to see what is available, and what conditions and variations are being offered. Listings get updated daily.
