So, I hopped in my time machine and went back to Cape Verde in 1968. As soon as I got there, I realized I was in the middle of nowhere, with only a few shacks and a bunch of goats around me. It was a hot day, and I was sweating like a pig in a butcher’s shop.
I wandered around, trying to figure out where I was. It took me a while, but I eventually discovered that I was in a small village called Ribeira Brava on the island of São Nicolau.

Now, Cape Verde in 1968 was a bit of a strange place. It was still a Portuguese colony, and there was a lot of tension between the locals and the colonizers. But, despite that, the people were really friendly, and they welcomed me with open arms.
As I strolled around, I spotted a group of kids playing marbles. They looked at me curiously, and I suddenly had an idea. I pulled out some old stamps I was carrying in my bag. I told them I was a collector looking for some coins from their time, and they were happy to show me the change they had in their pockets.
To my surprise, the kids had some really rare and valuable coins. I managed to buy a bunch of them for a few stamps (and a couple of old Canadian pennies I had in my pocket).

When I got back to my own time, I decided to sell some of the coins on eBay and keep some for myself. I made sure to take some super-close-up photos of the coins and wrote a detailed description of their history and significance. I even threw in a few jokes to keep things interesting.
To my shock, the auction went crazy! People from all over the world were bidding on my coins, and the final bid was for a whopping $4,800! I was so excited that I jumped around like a kangaroo on a trampoline. I mean, you can imagine.
So, there you have it, folks! My crazy trip to Cape Verde in 1968. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows, but it was definitely an adventure I’ll never forget.
