Hey, coin collectors and time travelers! Stanley here, ready to share my latest journey to Burundi in 1979. This trip was wild, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it!
First off, let me tell you a little about myself. I’m a coin collector and blogger from Canada, and I love nothing more than traveling back in time to score some awesome coins for my collection. Today, I woke up feeling like a zombie, but that wasn’t gonna stop me from having a blast in Burundi.
When I landed in Burundi, I was in this tiny little town surrounded by hills and trees as far as the eye could see. The weather was hot and muggy, and I was sweating buckets. The people were super friendly, but there weren’t many places to go. I had been to Burundi twice before, so I was pretty comfortable with my surroundings.

But this time, I decided to switch things up a bit. I started talking to some locals, trying to get a sense of where I was exactly. I had to get really creative with my detective work to figure out my location. It was like I was in a spy movie or something!
Once I finally knew where I was, I was able to explore the country more. Burundi was independent at that time and dealing with some political unrest. But the people were still living their lives, doing their best they could. I met some really cool folks and had a blast learning about their culture.
Now, the best part of the trip was when I pulled out my guitar and started playing some classic tunes from 1979. People were gathering around me, dancing and singing along. I even played a song that I had just learned from the future: “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey. I thought I was going to get booed out of the country, but they loved it!

The icing on the cake was when people started throwing coins in my guitar case. I got some really cool ones, and I was so stoked. I even got a coin from a little old lady who said she’d been holding onto it for years. Jackpot!
When I got back to the present, I decided to sell some of the coins on eBay and auction some of them off too. But let me tell you, the prices were not what I expected. I was pretty bummed, but that’s just the way it goes sometimes.
All in all, my trip to Burundi was an unforgettable experience. I met some amazing people, got some sweet coins, and rocked out to some great music. Even though the value of some of the coins wasn’t what I had hoped for, it was totally worth it. So, keep on collecting those coins, my friends, and don’t forget to have some fun along the way!
