Banknotes for the French Pacific Territories are general-use bills intended for Tahiti and French Polynesia. The notes, issued in the mid-1990s, have four different values from 500 to 5000 francs, and are inscribed “Institut d’Emission d’Outre-Mer”.
The designs generally honor subjects directly related to the area of the South Pacific the notes are used in: fishermen, maps of the area, notable historical figures, et cetera. The bills all feature the French language.
