Percy Faith, Mantovani, Mannheim Steamroller, Elvis Presley, and others who released classic albums of Christmas music from the 1950s - 1970s did so on reel to reel tapes. You can easily find great Christmas reel to reel tapes for sale here, usually for a few dollars.
