Quilting blog review: Susan Briscoe’s “Sashiko and Other Stitching”

Susan Briscoe throws herself whole-heartedly into quilting and quilting events, making her Blogspot site Sashiko and Other Stitching (http://susanbriscoe.blogspot.com/) one of the more valuable and interesting quilting blogs on the net.
Averaging, recently, around 15-20 posts per month, Susan includes lots of pictures of events, designs, and people in her articles. Her sashiko blog is part of her larger internet presence which includes her non-blog website where she sells designs, fabrics and her noted books. Since Susan has made quilting such a big part of her life, and is obviously both skilled at and passionate about it, her blog has a more authoritative feel than some hobby blogs.
One of her recent posts (as of this review) is "A sashiko sampler" (shown in the screen shot here), which inculdes a picture of a sashiko quilt made by a past attendee of one of Susan's workshops. It shows, as the text notes, the addictive quality of sashiko quilting and, in our estimation, the value of workshops in general as an inspiration to quilters. This involved, community-minded approach is what sets this blog apart and gives it its bookmark-value.
Susan Briscoe lives in England, conducting and attending workshops and maintaining her presence in the online quilting community. Definitely bookmark her sashiko blog and check it often; there is a lot of good stuff there!
