New Arthur Lee “Love Lost” release of 1971 sessions coming November 24 from Sundazed

This is really exciting news for Arthur Lee and Love fans!!

Arthur Lee "Love Lost" Sundazed album cover On CD and vinyl comes a very welcome release from Sundazed of unreleased material from Arthur Lee with a 1971 version of Love: Love Lost. The band was briefly signed to Columbia Records, recorded an album, then left the label with no release.

These recordings will be released on Love Lost on November 24, 2009. The single CD or double vinyl LP contains the album as, apparently, it would have been released in 1971 or 1972. The vinyl version contains several tracks not on the CD including five acoustic demos recorded around the same time. (The front cover is a photograph similar to one that every Arthur Lee fan has seen time and again; there just don't seem to have been many videos or photos taken of Lee somehow.)

Arthur Lee would re-record many of the songs for his 1972 solo album Vindicator and the underrated 1974 Love release Reel To Real. Other have only been heard on bootlegs such as the famous Black Beauty And Rarities, though many have never been released in these versions.

The 2LP vinyl edition is available now for pre-order from Amazon here; the CD is available on this page. No indication as to whether or not the release will be available for MP3 download, but nearly all other Arthur Lee and Love albums (even latter-day releases like the Blue Thumb recordings) are available in MP3 from Amazon so maybe we'll get lucky.

Even if so, we don't know if the vinyl-only tracks will be available as downloads. Anyway, it doesn't matter; we've got our order placed for the vinyl just to be safe.
