About the new layout

Oct 8, 2009   More articles: MMS News (46)

You will see the layout has been totally revamped on the site. The idea is to make it easier to find the page you want; there are now drop-down menus that you can see by hovering your mouse pointer over some links (such as those in the sidebar).

There are some features that require JavaScript now (mostly the ability to see a larger picture when clicking on a thumbnail); we will soon be adding a way for non-JavaScript browsers to access the same stuff. (And why would anyone in this day and age turn off JavaScript anyway?!)

We have tested the new layout and features in several browsers on both Mac and Windows computers, and we think we've caught most everything that could go wrong. Of course, we probably didn't catch everything, so if you see something broken or have a suggestion, leave us a feedback comment and we'll take a look at it.

(Note to Firefox users: We have identified an issue whereby the drop-down menu in the right-hand sidebar on category pages disappears if you move your mouse to the left too much over the text (the little right margin of that box is ok but anything else causes the box to go away). We're working on that and will post here when it's fixed.)

(Note to Internet Explorer 6 users: The site may look broken in places for you. For one thing, the tabs at the top of this page have weird looking corners. This is due to graphics limitations of IE6. We strongly recommend you upgrade to a newer version of IE, but we really recommend you get another browser like Google Chrome or Firefox. They're all free and much nicer looking.)

There are a couple more (very minor) issues that are on the to-fix list too, and there are more features, vendors, categories and tools coming soon, so check back for those. We'll always write a post in this section about such new things.

So try out the new layout, see if getting around is easier, and send us some feedback and tell us what you think. Thanks to everyone who has sent and continues to send us feedback about the site and our categories; you are helping this site become better and more popular every day. We're very glad you love what we're doing!
